USA Finally Beat Canada in Thrilling Shoot Out
There's few greater long standing rivalries than that of Team USA [or, should we say, Team Minnesota] and Team Canada on the ice . It was 1998 when the US last took home gold in the brutal sport–though the rivalry goes back long before then–and they've been trying to pry it back from Canada for the last 16 years. And we can't say the former champs were entirely good losers or wore silver without a bit of saltiness. The shot that sealed the deal came from Jocelyn Lamoureux-Davidson and is, naturally, named after a Britney Spears song. You can read Jocelyn's account of the day here.

Figure Skating
Ivett Toth Brings Thunder to the Olympics
OK, a triple axel is impressive, but quite frankly we can't get enough of this routine. She may not have bagged all the big technical points, or brought much of anything that you might traditionally associate with figure skating, but Ivett brought her black studded belt, an ACDC soundtrack and stole our hearts. This routine is pure IDGAF.

Curling
Curling Has Everything, Including the Garlic Girls
It seemed like it was going to go so well for Team GB in the curling, but Eve Muirhead and the rest of the team ended up medal-less in fourth place. Sweden took the gold, but let's be real, we were all too busy fangirling on the Garlic Girls to notice. The entire team hails from Uiseong, a town in southern South Korea famous for the garlic it produces.

Ester Ledecka's Historical Double Gold
Not only is 22-year-old Ester Ledecka the only athlete to have ever competed in skiing and snowboarding at Olympic level, she's also made history by being the first athlete to win gold in both sports – 90 years since anyone has claimed gold in two sports at one Winter Games. And she's the first woman to do so. Should we go on? One week after winning gold in alpine skiing, Ester followed up with a gold in the parallel giant slalom. 💁🏻♀️

Marit Bjorgen's 8th Gold Medal
Norwegian athlete Marit Bjorgen is no stranger to the podium, and in the final event of the Games she claimed the 8th gold medal of her career in the cross-country mass start, and her 15th medal overall making her the athlete with the most medals in Winter Olympics history. Could we say medal any more times?

England: Most Feared Team in Women's Footbal
We couldn't not leave you with a bit of football when we've got so many exciting footy events coming up. Lucy Bronze speaks about how England have gone from 'making up the numbers' to being a group of seriously strong players that others teams have to actually pay attention to. And as they've just started in the SheBelieves Cup [let's... not talk about the name...] and beat France 4-1 tonight, it looks like she's not wrong. Maybe some hate is doing Phil Neville good.
