How Chloe Kim Won Halfpipe Gold With a Near Perfect Score

This NY Times piece perfectly illustrates how Chloe Kim's run was so flawless, breaking down the tricks she nailed including back-to-back 1080s, a feat no other woman has landed in competition. By the time she was onto her final run, Chloe knew she had secured the gold for team USA, but had still saved her trickiest moves for last, saying "I just knew that I wasn't going to be completely satisfied taking home the gold and knowing that I could have done better". And that's what makes a [17 yr old] champion.

Mirai Nagasu's Stunning Triple Axel

In a fully mesmerising performance, Mirai made history this week and became the first American woman to land a triple axel in the Olympics, massively contributing to the USA team taking bronze overall. This video by Vox breaks down what makes the triple Axel so hard for athletes to master and the physics behind the jump.

Mikaela Shiffrin Takes First Gold in Giant Slalom

Mikaela headed to the Olympics with a huge amount of expectation on her shoulders, but the 22-year-old athlete has so far delivered. In her first event of the games she won gold, but she's definitely not done yet – with four more events to compete in, don't be surprised if we're still talking about her next week. Her top tip for success? Napping 💙. You can watch her compete here.

A Photo Essay of the Women Hoping to Make the Asian Para Games

Photojournalist Hari Adivarekar spent a few days in the southern city of Chennai with the women who are aiming to earn a spot in India's national women's wheelchair basketball team. The athletes trained for seven hours a day over nine days, including an exercise shown in the pic above where one player pulls three others. In this BBC article, the women share some of the challenges they face and what their sport means to them.

Pernille Harder Working for Champions League Success

Widely regarded as one of the top three players in the world, the striker is setting her sights on Champions League success with her team Wolfsburg, following on from helping Denmark finish as runners-up in the Euros last year. In this interview with The Guardian, Harder talks about growing up as the only girl in the team and how Germany has changed her way of playing football.
